The new exhibition Bill Woodrow RA opens tomorrow at the Royal Academy’s Burlington Gardens site and runs until 16 February 2014. Long overdue, this full survey show features 50 works spanning the sculptor’s entire career. It explores the many themes evident in Woodrow’s oeuvre , from the early 1970s to the present day, highlighting his humour and inventiveness and his influential role in contemporary sculpture. The exhibition has already garnered much positive media coverage (for instance in The Telegraph, The Guardian and the Evening Standard) but in case you need further persuading that it is a must-see this winter, below are some images of what’s on offer, taken at the private view yesterday evening.
Lund Humphries is delighted to have been able to work closely with Woodrow to produce the extensively illustrated book, The Sculpture of Bill Woodrow, which has been published this week to coincide with the exhibition. The book’s authors, Julia Kelly and Jon Wood, have drawn on exclusive interviews with the artist and access to his archive to create the first complete account of Woodrow’s work to date, and its critical reception.
