An Evening with Neave Brown

Posted on

This Friday, award-winning architect Neave Brown will be joined by the author of Cook's Camden: The Making of Modern Housing Mark Swenarton to discuss Neave's work. The event will include appearances from architects such as Farshid Moussavi and Stephen Bates.

Neave Brown was recently awarded the 2017 RIBA Gold Medal for Architecture in recognition of his unparalleled contribution to the field of public housing. In this very special event, hosted by the Architecture Foundation and taking place at the Hackney Empire, Neave will reflect on his career and the lessons that the programme of post-war reconstruction offers to today's generation of house-builders.

His 1965 terrace of five houses on Winscombe Street represented the first of three housing projects that he would realise in the London Borough of Camden, each of which is now protected through listing. His estates at Dunboyne Road (1977) and Alexandra Road (1978) are now recognised as two of the most innovative urban housing schemes built in Britain during the past 100 years.
