Alois Derso and Emery Kelen were without rival in their day, bringing humour, gentle satire, artistry and vision to capture the zeitgeist of an era that witnessed the creation of the League of Nations, the rise of fascism and, following another world war, that period of hope entrusted in the new United Nations. Surprisingly, no comprehensive account of their work and lives has been published until now.
Both co-authors of this fascinating overview of Europe's failing efforts to secure peace will be speaking about the cartoonists and their remarkable partnership during the meeting which will also provide time for informal discussion.
