EXHIBITION TALK 23 March 2024 - The Art of Richard Eurich

Mystery and Imagination: The Art of Richard EurichReflections on Richard Eurich's interpretations of landscapes, coast and towns, from the Dales to the SolentSaturday 23 March, 2.00-4.00PM, Leeds Art Gallery

Mysterious, strange, quirky – and little known: words and phrases often associated with this most poetic of 20th century English artists, yet Richard Eurich’s works can be found in many public UK art collections, including Leeds. His sometimes controversial pictures associated with his time as a war artist attached to the Admiralty were much admired and enthusiasm for his paintings has steadily grown since his Retrospective in 1979. This lecture by freelance art curator Caroline Krzesinska will explore Richard Eurich’s rich imagination and the memories that underpin it, discussing paintings and drawings made across the seven decades of the artist’s life.
